Immerse Yourself INTO MY ABSTRACT ACRYLIC WORLD
Art Gallery of Eclectic Acrylic Projects
Fluid Acrylic Evolution Since 2018
Thinking back, I now do not remember where I first saw fluid acrylic work. What caught my attention most – you really can’t do it wrong! That is not to say it’s easy. You MUST be able to get a perfect balance between paint and medium. I’m still learning and experimenting all the time. After I had a few dozen canvases to look back on, I realized it wasn’t enough. I love playing with color. I love the random effects. But after a while, to me, it was just too plain. I began to experiment using wood, glass, metal or rock as my canvas. After a coat or two of Gesso, you can literally use anything. I also started saving the skins and have enjoyed putting some jewelry pieces together. Never did I dream of someday having a gallery. Now I wish I had a photo of all the work I gave as gifts. I began grouping finished 3x5 5x7 4x6 10x10 12x12 – whatever was around – canvas and panels in such a way to create a larger more complicated hopefully interesting visual. I added magnets to the works’ back and positioned them on 16-18-20-gauge steel panels of various dimensions – 24x36 36x36 36x48. By then I needed to start making my own frames. Some work pushed 20+ lbs. Then I wanted to fill the negative spaces. I use anything that will allow a magnet to be glued to the back. ANYTHING. I started goofing with the “negative space fillers” to create a puzzle. And there we have the birth of Discrepancy Art. Not all the work has a discrepancy. But all but one item in the gallery uses acrylic paint. Maybe that is a new discrepancy!
